We’ve seen a lot of players come through our doors over the years, varying in appearance, skill level, and everything in between. We decided to put forth a “Getting to Know” series on some players who have attended events but still remain on the lesser-known side of things. Each of these prospects embody being a student-athlete and getting it done in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, and today’s edition will take a closer look at Nayshin Waller of Wayne Country Day.

We’ve seen Waller countless times over the travel ball season, previously stating, “The Flight 22 organization consistently puts out some of the top talent from North Carolina, specifically from the eastern part of the state, and NayshinWaller certainly fits that notion. Though he showcased a pretty well-rounded skillset and quality two-way approach, his leadership is arguably what shined the most across the weekend. Waller displayed a high IQ and controlled the action with poise, effortlessly creating for himself and others while picking his spots within the flow of the offense. He utilizes his length well to force turnovers and finish over the outstretched arms of defenders. Waller scores the ball effectively from all three levels, but was arguably at his best when getting downhill and attacking the basket. He doesn’t really have any glaring weaknesses and should continue to establish himself as a noteworthy name going forward.” Which was later followed by, “Although the Chargers’ have impressive balance, it would be difficult to ignore everything Waller brough to the table. He’s a very well-rounded guard who understands how to naturally affect all facets of the game. Waller handles the ball with care, sets up others as needed, and scores the ball at a nice rate from all levels. He’s a strong defender with sharp instincts and the ability to force turnovers and push transition play with relative ease.”
Since then, Waller has only continued to further solidify himself as a prospect worthy of more attention from college coaches. He’s a tough, smart, well-rounded guard prospect with the blend of size, skill, and athleticism to make his presence felt in a variety of different ways. Waller is a quality ball-handler and shot-creator with the necessary vision to set up others at a nice rate. He scores the ball with efficiency from all levels, but is arguably at his best when getting downhill and attacking. Waller is a reliable defender and useful rebounder for his position, but also does a great job of producing within the confines of the team structure. He has no glaring weaknesses, and should truly be a bigger priority for more programs at the next level.
