Phenom Hoops continues to check in on players around the state in the Class of 2023, this time talking to 2023 Truman Claytor. Claytor has really seen his game and recruitment rise over the last year with Word of God and is now excited about the opportunity to show what he can provide on the court with Team Loaded.
We go 1-on-1 with Claytor to find out all the latest, how his game has developed over the last year, his learning experiences, and the latest on his recruitment as he added a few offers over the last few months and other schools are showing interest his way.
Phenom: How has everything been going so far for you as far as basketball goes'
Claytor: Everything for me has been a slow start for AAU but I feel like I’m getting back to myself.
Phenom: What are you taking away from this high school season and putting into this summer with your team'
Claytor: Just find your role and be good at it and just be a worker.
Phenom: Who all are you playing with this summer'
Claytor: Playing with Loaded.
Phenom: How has your game improved over the last year and what areas are you still looking to improve in'
Claytor: I feel like my body has changed from last season which makes my overall game better and I feel like a better shooter than I was last year.
Phenom: What experiences and learnings have you been able to take from this past high school season and bring now to the travel ball season'
Claytor: Just have fun with it while still getting the job done
Phenom: You were able to pick up some offers over the last year. Jacksonville State, Coastal Carolina, and Radford. Who has been staying strong with you since offering and what have they been saying'
Phenom: Jacksonville State; they have come down to see my work out and showed a lot of love.
Phenom: What are your thoughts on each of those programs and what stands out in your eyes right now from them'
Claytor: They (Jacksonville State) also want me to come in as a freshman and contribute to the team.
Phenom: What schools have been showing more interest your way but have yet to offer'
Claytor: Toledo, Charlotte, Eastern Michigan, and others
Phenom: What have they been saying to you and what do they like'
Claytor: They just want to keep seeing and keep building a relationship.
Phenom: Do you have any visits planned or schools that you want to visit' Any specific dates'
Claytor: I don’t have any visits set up yet.
