Player: Chase Branham
Class: 2027
Height: 6’3
AAU: KC Run GMC

Rolling back to last summer with Phenom Hoops on deck for the USA Club Championship, we had an opportunity to watch a young guard who grabbed the attention of our scouts. A player that had yet to really take off regarding recruitment, 2028 6’3 Chase Branham is now catching the eyes of many at the next level with strong offers and interests. At the event, Patrick O’Brien had this to say:

“There were plenty of guards to watch at the event, but Branham was one that I loved watching. This 6’3 point guard plays with such confidence, is such a competitor, and I loved his overall feel on the court. Branham has a swagger to his game and isn’t afraid of the spotlight, knocking down big shots from outside, being tough as a creator off the dribble and scoring, and has a tremendous feel in running the show and finding his teammates.  He is one that I believe should garner a lot more attention.”

Branham has only continued to play at a high level, and he has now earned offers from Missouri, Indiana, Kansas State, and most recently Iowa. We talked to him about the latest going on and his thoughts on the summer.

Phenom: How has everything been going this spring/summer with you?
Branham: Things have been going well. Ended the high school season with a 28-4 record and a Final Four finish.  It was a great season overall. AAU has been going well also. We are 4-0 in the UAA Circuit and have a big session coming up in a couple of weekends.

Phenom: What is your excitement with your AAU team this year? How good do you think you all could be?
Branham: I’m very excited. We have most of our guys back from last year and added a couple more. We have a very good chance of winning the circuit this year. The most important thing is we are all each other’s best friends. We hang out outside of practice on the weekends, so we are just building a family.

Phenom: Received a big offer recently from Iowa. What are your thoughts on that program?
Branham: I feel like there is a lot to be excited about. They are a great program and are in the right direction with Coach McCollum. He is a great coach and has a very good staff to support him. Most definitely a fit and a place I could see myself going in the future. One more thing that sticks out to me is the loyalty he has to his players and his players have to him. Most of his roster are Drake kids or kids he has coached in the past couple of years.

Phenom: Have any plans on visiting?
Branham: Not official yet. I will most definitely get up there. Most likely during football season. I am going to visit Indiana next week though.

Phenom: What other schools have been strong with you early on in your eyes?
Branham: I’d say the schools that are really on me are Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, Kansas State, and Iowa State.

Phenom: Any schools you hope to visit down the road? Or have you already visited?
Branham: Yeah, for sure. As of right now, I’m very open-minded. But I feel like I’ve dreamed of visiting every school in the country. Some schools in the future I would love to visit that I’m not talking to would be Duke, Florida, Kentucky, and some more,e but the rest of my list are schools I’m talking to, and I watched growing up. Just looking forward to the ones planned as of right now.

Phenom: Any dream school for you?
Branham: I would have to say Duke.
