Each and every time Phenom Hoop Report gets to report or sees a commitment from a player we have seen over the years, it is always a fantastic day. It is great to see players achieve their goal to play at the next level and it is such a great accomplishment for that player.
Here is the latest commitment.

Player: Cornelious Williams
Class: 2022
Committed to: Murray State
What is Murray State getting:
It is the third commitment for Murray State in adding Corneilous Williams but it gives the Racers their first forward in the class. Williams, who came to North Carolina last season and then transferred to Combine Academy, is an intriguing prospect but one that will need to continue to develop his game. What he does bring though is incredible bounce and athleticism for a player his size, as he really grabbed the attention of many with his quick second-bounce, his ability to get on the boards, and his length on both ends of the floor. When watching him recently again during Combine’s open gym, he has continued to work on expanding his game more offensively. Williams though has great timing and looks to rip the rim off, as well as be a rim-protector defensively.
What He Said:
“I chose Murray State because they have all the tools to help me get to the next level; 24-hour gym access, personal weight room, they do individualized stuff to help, they don’t base your lifting off a group, which I needed all of that because I have to have all these things to help me get ready for the next level. The whole coaching staff is experienced and knows what it takes.”
What Was Said by Phenom Hoops:
“My strengths are shooting mid-range and finishing around the rim,” he told Phenom Hoops. “I’m looking to focus on dribbling and pulling up off the dribble.” – Williams back in 2020
“Williams has continued to develop his overall game while still being consistent on the boards and mobile down in the post. Williams was always so active in getting on the boards both offensively and defensively, showcasing a quick second jump and reaction. Explosive forward that continues to finish strong at the rim but also shows more comfort in stepping out.” – Patrick O’Brien in 2021
“After becoming one of the most coveted prospects within North Carolina, Williams continues to highlight his value as a problematic defensive presence. He simply excels at utilizing his length to overwhelm opponents, both as a rebounder and rim-protector, and regularly highlights impressive timing when erasing space and blocking shots. Williams runs the floor hard, finishes extremely well around the basket, both above and around contact, and plays within himself on both ends of the floor.” – Jeff Bendel in 2020
