6’9 2023 Jaydin Spillman-Martin (Winston-Salem Christian)
We’ve had a chance to watch Jaydin Spillman-Martin several times, whether it was high school, travel ball or in a camp setting. Spillman-Martin played at Davie County High School, but decided to transfer and reclassify to the North Carolina 2023 class. Tracking at a scholarship level prospect in the 2022 class, the move to the class of 2023 will make him an even more intriguing prospect, not to mention he should be getting D1 interest sooner rather than later.
At the Teammates Nationals held at the beautiful Rock Hill Sports and Event Center, we came away even more impressed with his development and overall improvement. We’re talking about a lengthy, mobile and fluid 6’9 forward that is oozing with upside and potential. At our most recent camp held March 2nd prior to the COVID pandemic, we stated the following. “We’re talking about a lengthy and fluid hybrid forward that runs the floor extremely well, not to mention touch and range. Spillman-Martin averaged 13.5 PPG for the camp, has a nice offensive skill set, but could be a difference maker on the defensive side of the court. As he continues to develop, add strength and weight, we strongly feel Spillman-Martin could become a scholarship prospect at the D1 level. (Won Mr. Defense Award).”
At our NC Phenom 150 camp in 2019, we stated the following. “Spillman-Martin displayed exceptional timing on defense and scored the ball in a variety of different ways on the other end. He utilizes his length well, runs the floor effectively, and should only continue to get more impressive with time. He’s a great competitor that any coach would love to have. Jaydin is definitely one to keep on the radar!” Spillman-Martin was undeniably impressive at camp, securing the Mr. Defense award with relative ease, and should be a name worth noting for the foreseeable future.” For Spillman-Martin, the future is now and one to start tracking. Spillman-Martin will be playing for Coach Antonio Lowe at Winston-Salem Christian and will be playing on a much bigger stage and platform. Don’t be surprised to see an immediate uptick in his recruitment. He’s definitely a player to put in your SIM CARD.
