Telligence Johnson has turned into a high level player, not only a high level player but a prospect that mid to high major school need to be tracking.

It isn’t so much in his skill set, which is quickly developing, but it is with the overall impact he has on a game. He defends, he passes, he makes shots, and he finishes with breathtaking dunks. The type of dunks that change momentum and stop opposing team’s runs.

Last season, the 6’3” Johnson started for the North Carolina 3A Public School state champions. He wasn’t a star but played a role. This year, his role has changed. With leading scorer Mark Gilbert enrolling early at Duke to play corner back, Johnson has been forced into a leadership role.

Not only has Johnson responded, he has taken his game to a new level. Johnson has always been athletic, he can run and jump with the elite players in the country. However, this year, the game has slowed down for him. He is reading plays and making great decisions.

So far, this season, Terry Sanford is 12-0. They have won the Cumberland County Showdown and are now facing Ravenscroft in the championship of the High School OT Holiday Invitational. Today against Garner, Johnson finished with a complete stat line of 13 points, 10 boards, 4 assists, and 3 steals prior to fouling out in over time.

At his current trajectory, Telligence Johnson is a Division 1 player. He continues to get better each time he takes the floor, and he continues to win.
