Player: Quali Giran
Class: 2029
School: LB Millikan
It is never too early to look at the Class of 2029 on a national level, and we can tell you that 2029 Quali Giran will be a name you will see on many rankings. The 6’1 guard caught our scout, Patrick O’Brien, eyes earlier in the year at the Pango’s All-West Fresh/Sophomore Camp where he had this to say:
“Giran is a name I believe you will be hearing more about in the coming years, as he offered a lot as a young guard. When watching him at the camp, he was able to make his presence felt both offensively and defensively. Offensively, he is a quick and shifty guard who was able to flourish with his ability to attack downhill and get to the rim. He displayed tremendous body control and bounce, doing a great job in breaking down and staying aggressive. However, he is still able to hurt you from the perimeter, hitting shots from behind the arc as well. Giran is one who plays with tremendous poise and control, is a true playmaker on the court, and he should only continue to develop.
Phenom Hoops was able to catch up with Quali and his mother, Liz Giran, to talk about the excitement his way, his game, and early recruiting success.

Excitement about the Season Starting
“Quali is extremely excited to open the season on a big stage. He lives for high-level competition, and these early matchups against top-tier programs fuel him. With nonstop training and a true hunger to improve, facing elite players shows him exactly where he’s progressing and what he’s sharpening. He goes into each game with a locked-in mindset, and starting the year against powerhouse schools is the perfect opportunity for him to showcase his growth and separate himself from other top 2029 athletes.” – Liz
Game Description:
“I play with pace, poise, and purpose. I’m always analyzing — how defenders react, where the openings are, and what my team needs in the moment. I’m versatile: I can score, facilitate, defend multiple spots, and control the flow of the game. My goal is to elevate everyone around me while competing at the highest level.”
Early Start in his Recruitment
Giran recently announced he received an offer from UCLA after a 30-point showing vs. Sierra Canyon
“It was a surreal moment. UCLA is one of the biggest basketball programs in the world, and to have them believe in me at this stage means everything. All the early mornings, long nights, and sacrifices flashed through my mind. I’m grateful, motivated, and ready to keep proving why I belong at that level.”
“As for dream schools, Quali definitely has a few programs he’s always admired, UCLA being one of them, but overall, he wants a place known for developing elite guards/wings, strong culture, and real opportunities to grow on and off the court. But at the end of the day, he’s focused on staying humble, working hard, and letting the right fit come to him. The goal is a school that values who he is as a player and a person. The other schools that have offered are San Jose State, CSUN, & Sacramento State.” – Liz
NOTE: After speaking with Giran, it was announced that he had received an offer from TCU as well.
Future Visits:
“UCLA is the only school with a potential visit, but we have to wait until next summer or fall because he’s too young according to the rules. Assuming the same for the other offers.”
