The Class of 2028 down in South Carolina is shaping up quite nicely, as it seems that there will be plenty of D1 talents coming out of that class. We had the chance to watch many of those talents at the South Carolina Top 80, and one player who proved himself against the best was 2028 6’7 “Brice Wiersma.
After the camp, Patrick O’Brien had this to say:
“Wiersma is a confident and skilled 6’7 forward who continues to impress with his versatility and poise. He’s a natural scorer who can produce from multiple levels—knocking down shots, spacing the floor, and attacking closeouts with control. Wiersma is comfortable handling the ball on the perimeter and creating for himself, showing the kind of polish and confidence rare for his age. His blend of size, skill, and offensive versatility makes him a high-upside prospect to track.”
When watching him closely, Wiersma was incredibly impressive with his overall feel on the court. A forward that displays excellent footwork, excellent feel and presence in the paint, touch around the basket, and tremendous overall production, Wiersma proved that he belongs near the top of the ranks in South Carolina. Wiersma’s feel and footwork around defenders was impressive, scoring through defenders, getting to the rim, and attacking the glass were impressive as defenders couldn’t slow him down. He is comfortable in operating off the bounce, facing up and knocking down shots, and making an impact in several areas, all of which make him a priority for college programs down the road. But we are jumping on board early with his talent.
