North Carolina has been a hotbed as of late ,with dual-sport athletes not only showing that they are high-profile football prospects, but ones that can produce on the court as well as a D1 prospect. Players like Drake Maye and Kendre Harrison are two of the most recent ones, but after watching this weekend at the Phenom 828 Showcase, 2027 6’5 Jaxon Dollar proved once again that he could be another one to enter the picture.
East Lincoln was certainly a team of interest this weekend, as the talent was able to rise to the occasion and showcase in a tight battle. Dollar, who is ranked as one (if not the) top football prospect in the state of North Carolina right now for 2027, proved that he has the talent to also produce as a D1 basketball prospect if he wanted.
This past season at East Lincoln, Dollar finished with an impressive 54 catches, 1,190 yards, and 20 touchdowns to help lead his team, along with racking up 38 total tackles, 13.0 TFL, and 5.0 sacks. And though the season has just started for the Mustangs on the court, Dollar has been impressively averaging 16.4ppg, 10.4rpg, 7.4apg, 4.0spg, and 1.0bpg.
Phenom Hoops watched him last year at the 828 Showcase, where he strongly proved himself, really introducing himself to the state. Back again on the court, Dollar looks bigger, stronger, and continues to impact the game in all areas. When talking about his game, he has the size and physicality that you like to have in a prospect, finishing at the rim with athleticism, embracing and finishing through contact, and also proving that he can be a multi-level scorer with confidence. He certainly has developed into a well-rounded prospect that fills up the stat sheet, and he has the potential to only get better.
As the season continues, Dollar is only going to be a name that draws more attention from college coaches across multiple sports. His blend of size, athleticism, production, and competitiveness consistently translates on the basketball court, showing that his success is no fluke. With continued development and more opportunities to be seen, Dollar is proving that he is not just an elite football prospect, but a legitimate Division I basketball talent who should remain firmly on recruiting radars moving forward.
