2027 6’4 Ashton Graves has had a strong overall season in helping lead his team. Though he had to miss a few games this season, he came back in a big way at the start of January and college programs have been noticing quickly. In the last month, he has added offers from Ole Miss, NC State, and Manhattan, while others have been expressing interest. Phenom Hoops spoke with the junior guard to learn more about his game, season, and the latest in his recruitment.
Game Description:
“How I would describe my game is a 3-level scorer who can contribute on all levels. Scoring is more of my calling card right now, but being a playmaker is something I am making huge strides in and working on. I don’t want to give too much away on how I like to operate but spaced floor situations is really where I flouris,h being able to work in space and show my craftiness.”
Season Update and Development:
“My season has been going well so far. I feel like my game has developed more from the mental aspect than anything. Being more cerebral on the court and reading the game from a different level, knowing when to take over a game and when to create for others. So, I would say my biggest development has been my basketball IQ.”
Recruitment Update:
The 2027 6’4 guard from New Jersey has been catching a few more eyes as of late, as Ole Miss and NC State are two programs that have recently offered now joining Cal State Bakersfield and Manhattan.
“Recruitment has been going very well with my recent offers from NC State and Ole Miss,” Graves said. “Both teams are fast-paced teams in great conferences, and they love how creative of a scorer I am and my tenacity on both sides of the ball. So just how they have paid attention to details about my game and their playing styles both stand out to me.”
Now up to four offers, Graves is taking it slowly with his recruitment and focusing on the high school season. But after the season, he looks to be more involved in building relationships with these programs.
In talking more with him, he also provided some interesting notes. Seton Hall and St. Peter’s are two schools that have also been by to check out his game and expressed interest. But as far as schools that he would be interested in learning more about are Auburn and Miami.
“They have been favorites of mine since I was a kid; love both programs and it would definitely be nice to hear from them.”
