Looking into the class of 2026 here in North Carolina, 2026 6’4 Jyi Dawkins has certainly been one that has been rising up the ranks and proving his game on the court. Dawkins has been leading the way this season for Garner Road, being a strong offensive creator and shot-maker on the floor. We recently wrote about his game in what we saw, and also caught up with him on the latest offer and what else has been going on in his recruitment. Check out what he had to say.

“Averaging 15.6ppg this summer, Dawkins has looked to be one of the go-to options for this Garner Road team, and is proving that he should be a big-time target for programs all around the area. With his blend of motor/energy, shot making and creating, scoring from inside and out, and athleticism, Dawkins has proven to be a clear D1 prospect as his recruitment should see an uptick quickly this summer. He has a lot to offer and has that “it” factor in his game as he looks to prove everyone wrong. We are excited to watch him more this summer, as Dawkins looks to be a man on a mission.”
Recruitment Update:
Phenom: First wanted to ask you how everything has been going this summer for you? What have you been able to show?
Dawkins: The summer has been great so far, and based on the games we’ve played, I’ve been able to show off my mid-range and I was also able to show that I can facilitate and get my teammates involved.
Phenom: What are your thoughts on the latest offer from La Salle? What did they have to say?
Dawkins: They were pretty much saying they like my game, and they were telling me about the school, with them offering me. I’m pretty happy about it, and I just have to continue to work hard.
Phenom: What do you know about the program?
Dawkins: The only information I have is that they are a school that puts basketball first, and they think very highly of me as a player. The coaches love their players with heart and a hustle mindset, and they are located in Philadelphia.
Phenom: What other schools have been showing interest with you these days?
Dawkins: Howard, Liberty, Virginia Tech, Farleigh Dickinson, Iona, La Salle, NC A&T, Coastal Carolina, Presbyterian, Queens, Hofstra, James Madison, Tennessee Tech, and Seton Hall.
Phenom: Who would you say has been strong with you in your eyes?
Dawkins: Liberty and La Salle.
