We have highlighted several rising freshmen recently, as these will certainly be names that you will want to start targeting and watching down the road.  Well, we bring you yet another that is already proving himself with a big-time program.

2024 6’1 Zion Walker at The Burlington School is a player that impressed when we got a glimpse of him at the North Carolina Junior Phenom back in October.  Walker made an impression on both sides of the floor, especially with the energy and strength he played with on the court.  After the camp, we had this to say about Walker:

“He’s a big, strong, athletic, all-around wing/forward prospect with a high motor, team-first approach, and the ability to truly control the game on both ends on the floor. Walker handles and passes the ball extremely well for his size while scoring efficiently from all three levels. He’s nearly impossible to stop from entering the paint and has the poise and craftiness to finish nearly anything he attempts. Next in his development process is working on his vision, as it would make him even more uncontainable on the offensive end.”

What is even more impressive… The Burlington School head coach Ryan Bernardi called on him to step up during the state tournament for his program, averaging 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in 15 minutes per game.

When asking what Bernardi saw in the young man, he had this to say:

“We are thrilled to have Zion in our program.  He played at a high level all season as an 8th grader on JV.  There, he played a significant role and was the leader of a 19-1 JV team.  He embraced the call up to varsity and was a quick learner.  He made a huge impact in our run to the state finals.  Zion refuses to be outworked and this mindset will take him a long way.  He will burst onto the scene in 2020-21.”

You heard it there from coach, Walker will burst onto the scene and from what we have seen so far from the young man, he will a must-see name in the state of North Carolina for his class.
