We continue to highlight players around the state of North Carolina that college coaches should be paying attention to more, and one player that we have talked about numerous times and continues to play at a high level is 2024 6’5 Amari Latham.

Latham has been one that has really captured our eyes over the summer for the last two years, as we have talked about him on several occasions.

“Latham is a highly intriguing 6’4 that can fill up the stat sheet.  Offensively, he plays bigger than listed especially with his versatility and athleticism.  He can be a double-double type player that is just scratching the surface of what he could be at the end but has taken the necessary steps in his game.  Latham runs the floor, can operate in all areas of the floor, defend multiple positions, and can be a force on the boards.” – Aug 2021

“Amari is long and athletic at around 6’5. He has the ability to dominate the game on both ends of the floor and can fill up the stat sheet. He’s a great finisher around the basket and has added some ball handling, passing skills and range on his jump shot to his game to make him more of a threat. Defensively he can guard any position on the floor making him a very reliable and important player for his team.” – Aug 2022

Fast forward to this high school season, Latham has been extremely dominant an impressive, continuing to show how much he can fill up the stat sheet.  At Goldsboro this season, Latham is averaging 19.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.7 steals per game, really using his long frame and athleticism to make plays in a variety of ways.  He continues to be effective when he is running the floor, operating around the basket, finishing at the rim, and being strong on the offensive and defensive boards.

Latham has continued to fly a bit under the radar, but he is one that college programs should seriously take a look at and monitor.
