The Phenom Team Camp Session 1 brought teams from around the area to Rock Hill (SC), as June is an exciting time for scouts and fans. There is nothing better than getting an early glimpse of what these high school programs will be bringing to the court this upcoming season, getting everyone excited about what is coming.
West Charlotte became a highly talked-about group at the event. The Lions are coming off a 10-15 season last year, but could be back in the spotlight with what they showed this weekend. Last year, this was a young group still learning to play and developing their game. Now, with a year under their belt together and key additions, West Charlotte has a chance to be back in the discussion as one of the top teams in the Charlotte area.
When you talk about this group, there are plenty of young prospects returning from last year who will be expected (and have shown) that they are ready to lead the way. 2028 Chacho Womack looks bigger and stronger, and should be one of the better guards in the area with his ability to knock down shots at a high rate as well as create. 2027 AC Pressley is another versatile piece that has put on strength, as he will be bringing athleticism to finish at the rim, knock down shots, and impact the game in other areas, much like he showed last year. 2027 Christian Coleman was able to flourish as a strong guard who got downhill, finished well, created for others, and brought value to the court for his team. These three alone will certainly be looked at to step up and lead the way for West Charlotte.
Now, they added another huge piece as one of the top rising sophomores will be joining the Lions this year. 2028 6’4 Kaharri Coleman showcased his impact this past weekend at the Phenom Team Camp, bringing a do-it-all guard that can score effectively inside and out, rebound well, and be a player that can be used in a variety of ways and areas on the court.
West Charlotte has been a program in the spotlight before and after taking a slight dip last year with a new, young group; the Lions will look to be back in the mix here in North Carolina this upcoming season.
