Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 6'1 Themus Fulks'

The state of North Carolina is blessed with an overabundance of talent. In the North Carolina 2018 class, 60 plus players signed with D1 schools and another 40 plus signed to play at the D2, D3, NAIA or Juco level. Quite impressive numbers! This year, the 2019 class is on the same course to have 100 plus players continue to play at the collegiate level. In our unsigned senior spotlight, we want to take a closer look at 6'1 Themus Fulks of North Davidson High School in Welcome, North Carolina (Located near Lexington, NC), 'who we strongly feel is a college-level player.

6’1 Themus Fulks is putting up big numbers on the basketball court as well as the classroom, which is exactly what you want out a young “student athlete.” Through 15 this season, Themus Fulks is averaging 32.5 PPG and is currently the state’s second leading scoring and 20th nationally according to Max preps. North Davidson is currently 12-3 and Fulks 'was recently announced as a McDonald’s All American nominee. In addition, Fulks carries an impressive 3.65 GPA heading into the final semester of his high school career. Academics plus athletics makes a winning combination!

We’ve watched Fulks numerous times during the summer travel ball schedule. Every outing, one could not be impressed with his ability to score. As the old saying goes, Fulks was a walking bucket, 'he is wired to score and can score from an unlimited awray of offensive moves. '. Fulks is currently shooting 54% from the floor, 42% from the 3-point line and 78% from the free throw line. He can literally score at will and has the ability to score from all three levels, athough he is at his best using his quickness and athleticism by attacking the rim. Just recently, Fulks broke the single game scoring record of 43 points set by Frankie Essick back during the 1970-71 season.

In speaking with head coach Brandon Mullis, he stated the following,'“Themus has a great work ethic.' He is constantly working to improve himself and his skill levels.' He has a very quick first-step, and is an extremely talented ball-handler.' His ability to break defenders down off the bounce, and then finish around the rim, is uncanny.' He can finish with both hands, and off of either foot.' He has also improved his outside shooting dramatically since last season ended.”'Coach Mullis also stated, “Themus is being recruited by a wide range of schools, 'South Carolina State, Catawba, Newberry, Queens University, Chowan, Fayetteville State, Catawba Valley CC and most recently offered by Davidson County CC.”

While Fulks is the state’s second leading scorer, he is not just a “one trick pony,” but a well balanced player. All one has to do is look at his overall stats that gives you a better understanding of his all around stats. In addition, Fulks is also averaging 6.7 RPG, 5 APG, and is even averaging 3.9 SPG which tells you he has the ability to score, rebound, dish out assists and make plays on the defensive end of the court.
