This past weekend, Phenom Hoops hosted our annual Stay Positive Showcase in Kernersville, North Carolina. Although we only had games on Friday and Saturday, there was still an abundance of overall talent in the gym. We caught all the action on Friday, including a closer look at Dub Salem—a squad that has an intriguing mix of developing prospects. Coach Whit Holcomb-Faye has a variety of pieces worth noting on his youngest team, including the duo of Logan Warren and Colin Kratzer. Let’s take a closer look at what each guy brings to the table…

Though somewhat undersized, so much of this team is centered around the steady, reliable point guard play of Warren. He’s a pure gamer with an extremely high IQ and overall understanding of how to properly dictate the action as the main creator. Warren possesses a tight, crafty handle with the combination of pace, vision, and instincts to consistently create for himself and others. He effortlessly breaks down opponents off the bounce and makes correct reads with the ball, but is more than capable of applying scoring pressure from all levels. Warren knifes through the lane to get to the basket and finish effectively for his size. He’s a quality perimeter shooter who can hit jumpers off the catch or dribble. Warren also runs the two-man game very well. On the other end, he’s a pesky defender with toughness and sharp instincts. He simply plays winning basketball.

Meanwhile, Kratzer is a skilled, versatile piece with great size and a blossoming identity on both ends of the floor. He’s always been an impactful piece, but it’s clear that he’s continued to develop his all-around game over the recent months. Kratzer has improved his handle and overall creation skills, making him an even bigger matchup problem for opponents. He has the size to finish and take advantage of smaller opponents around the basket, but is skilled and fluid enough to cause issues for bigger defenders. Kratzer can space the floor, attack off the bounce, and post-up effectively. He’s an active rebounder with the ability to push the break in transition and make decisions with the ball in his hands. Kratzer utilizes his length and instincts to make his presence felt defensively. Expect both of these guys to have big summer seasons.
