Phenom Hoops was back in action at the Phenom Grassroots TOC, where talent was on full display from start to finish. With teams and players bringing high-level competition across every division, the depth of talent truly stood out. As always, our staff was on hand to evaluate and identify some of the premier prospects that made their mark, and we now take a closer look at a few of the standout performers who caught our attention throughout the weekend.
2029 Jeremiah Thomas
It has been intriguing to watch Thomas and his development over the years, watching him as a young prospect to where he is today. Early on, Thomas used his size to his advantage, simply overpowering and scoring over defenders. But watching him today, it is clear that he has added more to his arsenal, bringing versatility inside and out, scoring off the bounce, and being an effective offensive weapon. Thomas has clearly shown that he has added levels to his game, being able to create off the bounce, attack out in transition, knock down shots from multiple levels, and still use his size to his advantage in the paint. He can play and operate from multiple positions, making him an even tougher player for opponents to defend.
2029 Nick Cannon
Another prospect we have watched develop over the years, Cannon is proving he will be a prime target for many programs in the coming years. He checks off a lot of boxes early on as a young prospect, demonstrating size, feel, scoring ability, and versatility positionally. Cannon truly shines as a prospect who can be a presence at all levels on the court, displaying a strong overall skill set, versatility as a scorer, and a defensive presence. Cannon has no issues in attacking off the dribble, using his frame to create and finish through contact, and really attacking the paint. But you also add his comfort level from mid-range and deep, he can hurt you in a variety of ways. With his size as well, Cannon can be an effective option on the glass while also defending inside and out. He will be trending as a hot D1 target for many.
