The state of South Carolina is really starting to gain the attention of college coaches and 2022 6’1 Jazian Gortman is looking to be one of the next big-time prospects from the state.
If you haven’t had a chance to watch Gortman’s game, he is electric on the court. He showed us glimpses of his game at Keenan, where he averaged 17 points per game as a sophomore.
He has terrific handles and is effective in creating for himself, setting up defenders, and taking advantage of the opportunities while also showing off his athleticism. Gortman plays with a ton of confidence and makes it look effortless with his ability to score on multiple levels. You can’t but notice his mid-range shot, along with his ability to knock down three’s.
It is why high-major programs are coming his way with offers.
His first high-major offer came from Wake Forest back in May, while South Carolina and Ole Miss followed in July. Clemson is now the latest school to offer, a program that he is familiar with.
“It feels great about being offered by Clemson,” Gortman said. “They were saying how they liked my game and that I could take them to a Final Four. I like the coaches and they stay in contact with me and I know a few players in their program, so they’ve told me things about it.”
Gortman is now up to double-digit offers and more could be coming his way, as his competitiveness, his approach to the game, how he can score the ball, and his ability to be a defensive difference-maker is what is attracting schools his way.
Outside of his offers, schools like Coastal Carolina, Florida State, and Murray State have also expressed interest his way.
