Hunter Huss has been growing into a strong program over the last few years. After going 5-18 overall in 2021-2022, this is a program that has been able to build into something worthy of attention, especially once again heading into the season.

Last year, finishing 20-9 overall, Huss was an extremely fun team to watch, as the guard play was spectacular. They moved the ball, had weapons all around, and young prospects really stepped up as scoring threats throughout.  Now, those players are back and have a year under their belt, as this should be once again a guard-heavy roster leading the charge.

Last year, these four prospects led the way:

2028 Jaleel Smith – 22.2.ppg
2027 Zaiyir Phillips – 18.5ppg
2026 Antonio Worthy – 11.5ppg
2026 Zamarius Gladden – 7.6ppg

Smith is back on campus for Hunter Huss and should once again be in for a huge season as a scorer and playmaker. He plays with a ton of confidence, sees the floor extremely well, makes plays for others, but also does a great job of creating his own shot.  And now with another year of experience, I expect him to take a step further in his development.

Phillips was one of the true leaders on this team last year, handling and running the offense a lot, playing with a strong motor and toughness on either side of the ball, and really playing with contagious energy. Worthy was an extremely valuable piece on the court for his team last year, opening up the defense, making plays and using his length, knocking down shots, and finding ways to blend in with the offense and bring versatility.  Furthermore, Gladden was another workhorse on the court, competing and being physical, attacking off the bounce, and bringing such value to the team in several areas.

These four, along with several other players, will be looking to take an even bigger step for this program this upcoming season. They hope to build off a 20-9 season and contend even more for a state title.  But are all the pieces there? Will another year of experience help them aim for bigger goals? We shall see.
