When someone talks about Greensboro Day, this is a team that is always in the hunt for a state title led by Hall of Fame coach, Freddy Johnson, and his staff. Year after year, this is a team that is regarded as a team that has a chance to win it all and they continue to rack up victories.
This year, the Bengals may be looking a little different and it could be a big factor in the team’s success. Greensboro Day has had plenty of guards come through and lead the way, much like the did last year and they have strong guards this upcoming season.
However, size could be a huge factor in this team’s success because there may not be many teams that could match up with what they have to offer. When you dive into the roster and who they have that could be a force, you have to start with some of the veterans and experienced prospects. 2025 6’6 Addison Newkirk will be counted on once again as a leader and veteran for this team, and he continues to bring tremendous contributions both inside and out. And then you have 2025 6’5 Trace Moffitt who helps with size but does a great job of stretching the court. Lastly, you have to look at one of the biggest new names coming to North Carolina in 2025 6’7 Ace Flagg, as he should be a huge part of the team’s success with his motor, his offensive ability, and his impact in a variety of ways.
Then you start looking at other prospects with tremendous size which should help with a strong rotation. 2027 6’5 Jagger Emerson flourished as a freshman and has the talent to be special as he continues to develop. 2027 6’10 Mason Robinson is another young but talented prospect as well to keep an eye on, as he has really added more to his game, has great size, and a lot of potential in the coming years. 2026 6’9 Pierce Bowman and 2026 6’10 Julian Adigun are two names to watch, with Bowman bringing good size and impact around the basket and Adigun is a 6’10 prospect with fluidity, the ability to stretch the floor, and can impact the game in other ways.
And then you have players like 2028 6’6 Andrew Juergens and 2029 6’8 Grant Duggins, who are young but have shown early flashes of what they are capable of providing when the opportunity comes.
Greensboro Day has been strong in the past and has found success on several occasions without much size. But that doesn’t look to be a problem this year, as they should be able to create tough matchups for opponents with what they have to offer on the court this upcoming season.
