6’3 ’18 Will Dillard of Greensboro Day has been on national radar since the seventh grade. His dunk at the CP3 Rising Stars camp also made it to ESPN. He’s consistently in the national conversation as one of the top players in his class nationally.
Fortunately for us, we’ve had ample opportunities to watch Dillard. We’ve watched in in showcase events, AAU, and in high school. No matter the venue, Dillard has stepped up to the challenge and has made a name for himself. At our March, NC Top 80 camp, we wrote, “Dillard is one of the more athletic and gifted players in the 2018 class.
He has great energy and finishes strong in traffic and doesn’t mind making the opposition the recipient of a highflying dunk in traffic. While Dillard is comfortable attacking the rim, he has really improved his perimeter shooting. He is a strong defender and one of the more explosive players in the country.”
In speaking with coach Freddy Johnson of Greensboro Day, he stated, “Will is our top defensive player. As good as he is, he is getting better especially his shooting touch.” In speaking with Dillard off the court, it is demeanor and humbleness that is quite impressive. He is a polite young man and has not allowed the stardom and success go to his head. As good a player he is on the court, he is even a better young man off the court which is refreshing to say the least.
Dillard has a bright future, but he takes it one day at a time. He’s the perfect teammate and the game is all about his team. Rarely, do you hear him mention individual accolades. His goal is simple and that is to improve and get better everyday, not to mention win games and championships
