Each year, we see a variety of prospects who transition from relative unknowns to legitimate priorities for college coaches. Although it’s clear that programs have placed less and less emphasis on high school players, there are certainly trends that can break through. Unique archetypes, translatable versatility, and physical anomalies are among the few types who can actually rank above college transfers. That being said, it feels like Tevaughn Bell will gradually become a major target for coaches over the next twelve months. When we saw him at our 757 Showcase, we stated, “Consistently being able to create matchup problems is one of the easiest ways to get recognized as a basketball player, and Tevaughn Bell did that with relative ease. Built like an absolute tank with impressive length, strength, and mobility, he made life difficult for opponents on both ends of the floor. At 6-foot-6 with exceptional versatility and physical tools, there aren’t many players who can stop him. Offensively, Bell is a powerful downhill force who can effortlessly get to the rim and finish through lots of contact. He’s a willing passer and capable shooter, yet looks to attack whenever possible. Bell rebounds his position very well, routinely finding ways to secure second-chance opportunities or grab and go in transition. His defensive appeal is also quite obvious, as he’s able to guard legitimately three to four positions based on matchup. Bell’s ability to operate in various positions and do so many different things on the court should make him an obvious target for tons of college programs. As his game continues to progress, Bell’s stock should visibly rise.”
Now, folks should expect him to turn heads throughout the June live periods as a two-way dynamo. He has the size, strength, skill, and athleticism to dominate opponents in a variety of different ways on both ends of the floor. Bell has all the tools to trend upward as one of the more intriguing prospects in North Carolina.
