Phenom Hoops is diving into the upcoming season, and we are bringing several previews and discussions about teams and players to watch out for. We are looking into several regions to see who could be looking strong early on based on the information we have and from last year’s results.  Take a look at these teams below, as we think these could be programs to watch out for in each.

A Region 2

C.A. Johnson
Governor’s Schools for Science & Math
Great Falls
Lamar
Lee Central
Lewisville
McBee
Riverwalk Academy

This looks to be an interesting region to watch this upcoming season, as there was a lot of balance between these teams before and now new teams join the battle. We dive into some of the teams we will have our eyes on.

C.A. Johnson

This is a team that was able to finish on top at 8-2 in league play and 16-13 overall. However, they will be losing some key seniors from last year that really helped this team overall. 2024 Lamont Jackson led the way at 18.0ppg last year and they will need to replace him. 2025 Anthony Brooks was second overall in scoring at 9.9ppg and you will want to keep an eye on 2027 Milton McCray who was also strong as a freshman last year. But the Hornets will look a bit different and will need the younger guys to step up.

Lamar

Though they still have some work to do, this was a team that was made up of juniors and sophomores last year and they should all be returning to give this team an experienced group. Now part of the A Region 2, the Silver Foxes could be a team to watch out for with the likes of 2025 Nyshaun Quillen, 2025 Xavier Jackson, 2025 Alvion Ward, and several others. They will have to find ways to put points on the board more this year as well as a better road record, but this is a team that finished 4-4 in the A Region 6 last year.

Lee Central

The Stallions could be another team to keep an eye on. Though their record in regional play wasn’t the best, they still finished 13-13 overall last year and return a lot of the same names from last year with another year of experience. 2026 Kiauj Allen led the way last year but players like 2025 Jamisen Wilds, 2025 Jaquarius Davis, and others weren’t far behind.  And this was a team that started out strong to start the season before racking up losses late in the season (though they were in several close games).

McBee

The Panthers of McBee would be a team I would have my eyes on this year. They finished the season 14-11 overall and 6-4 in regional play.  They also were playing strong towards the end of the season, winning six of their last nine games. On top of that, they did most of this with sophomores and juniors, so they should be returning that same firepower back once again. 2026 Jakari Holloman and 2025 Tyrek Wright make a nice tandem to lead the way but players like 2026 Darrell Harper, 2026 Hayden Griggs, and others should contribute once again. Could they be a sneaky pick this upcoming season?
