Charlotte-Based Teams Meet

Entering the final stages of the event, West Charlotte (8-7) will compete against Victory Christian (14-6). The Lions have a veteran-laden roster led by sophomore AC Pressley and freshman Chacho Womack. Their young duo offers meaningful production and will definitely be a pairing to watch going forward, but guys like DJ Williams, Chase Bryson, Christian Coleman, and Bamara Kone each play critical roles for this group. On the other side, the Kings have primarily been led by the grouping of Justyn Whitfield, Abubakar Cham, Carlos Marshall, and Christian Petty. Whitfield has been putting up impressive numbers throughout his high school career, yet continues to progress. Cham and Petty are intriguing prospects for college coaches to monitor. Marshall has a lot of appeal as a young, blossoming piece. There’s a lot to follow on both sides, so it’ll be fascinating to see how this contest unfolds.

Hopewell Hosts Ambassador Christian

The last contest of the event arguably doubles as the most competitive. It’s usually uncommon to see a team graduate their most prolific scorer in team history and maintain high levels of success, but that’s exactly what Hopewell (12-3) has done. Although they have a variety of useful contributors, the Titans’ success ultimately comes down to the senior trio of Mike Brown, Kamari Cooke, and Arael Jones. Those three players alone account for over 70% of the team’s scoring. Meanwhile, Ambassador Christian (12-4) has arguably exceeded expectations in their first season as a program. JD Bowden remains one of the top unsigned seniors while guys like Logan Johnson and Judah King are quietly having breakout seasons. Dylan Deluca offers reliable production as a senior leader. Others like Tyler Brown and Jeremiah Franklin provide quality minutes for the Lions. Expect this to be a bloodbath between two strong teams.
