While it’s common for folks to pay more attention to teams from the major cities in North Carolina (Charlotte, Raleigh), it’s proven there’s a ton of talent across the state. Some of the best college and professional players emerged from smaller schools or less-populated areas. That being said, it feels like West Bladen isn’t receiving enough attention for their highly successful season. The Knights currently sit at 14-1 (suffering their only loss to powerhouse Farmville Central) and have quietly been one of the best teams in the state. While it’s certainly been a team effort, we’d be remiss if we didn’t take a closer look at their highly productive trio of Chase Williams, Jackson Pait, and Hezekiah Adams.

Everything clearly starts and ends with Williams. He’s the focal point and main senior leader for this group. Williams is a strong, high-motor big man who finishes around the basket, controls the glass as a rebounder, and anchors the paint defensively. He’s a capable shooter and threat off the dribble but understands how to take what the opposition is giving him. Williams plays extremely well through contact and utilizes his body well on both ends of the floor. Right now, he’s averaging 21.9 PPG. Although there are no additional stats available, one would have to imagine he also secures double-doubles regularly. Williams signed to The Citadel earlier this season.

His cohorts, Pait and Adams, provide meaningful production to this group. Pait is a crafty guard who can fill it up as a scorer or generate shots for others. He’s a willing playmaker, reliable shooter, and scrappy defender. Meanwhile, Adams is a dual-sport athlete who possesses the ability to impact all facets of the game. He plays hard and is capable of altering his approach based on team needs. Both Pait and Adams are critical to the success of this group. Given everything they’ve shown this season, don’t be surprised if the Knights make a deep playoff run.
