The 16U White Division Gold championship game pitted a well balanced WCBA 2021 team against a tough PSB Winston Salem – Robinson group. The interior duo of 6’4 big bodied forward CJ Smith and 6’6 forward Owen Gulledge were off and running for PSB as they were able to get some early buckets down low and set the tone for their team both scoring 9 points in the game. After WCBA got their footing however, they began to dominate the game thanks in large part to game MVP 5’8 Chase Hakerem who scored a game high 26 points and knocked down 6 three-pointers. 6’5 big man Diego Pounds proved to be a force on the low block for WCBA while 6’5 forward Harper Strickland kept the defense honest with his inside out approach. 6’4 wing Zechariah Gibson scored a team-high 10 for PSB but in the end, Hakerem was too much to handle as WCBA won the game 73-45.
