Phenom Hoops was back in action at the Phenom Grassroots TOC, where talent was on full display from start to finish. With teams and players bringing high-level competition across every division, the depth of talent truly stood out. As always, our staff was on hand to evaluate and identify some of the premier prospects that made their mark, and we now take a closer look at a few of the standout performers who caught our attention throughout the weekend.

2029 6’5 Babar Johnson

Johnson is a player we have highlighted on several occasions and it seems like early on, he is trending as one of the premier prospects in the Class of 2029 down in South Carolina.  There is a lot to like about Johnson; he plays with an incredible intensity in his ability to give him the ball and allow him to make something happen, whether it is scoring off the bounce, getting to his spots, or rising up over defenders with his size. He plays with confidence, taking on any challengers and is simply wired to put the ball in the hoop.  There is a lot of potential with his game as he continues to get better and stronger, as well as add more overall on both sides of the court.  Johnson, though, is trending early as a premier prospect in the state.

2029 6’4 Kam Rice

Rice is another prospect we had a chance to watch when he was younger, and he has continued to trend in the right direction. He led his high school team in scoring as a young prospect and his blend of skill, playmaking, and impact can’t be denied. Rice plays well within the offense, creating and finishing, as well as getting to his spots to knock down shots. But he also plays with an unselfish feel with his ability to facilitate as well.  At 6’4, he finds other ways to impact the game, whether it is rebounding or defending, as Rice brings a strong overall impact to the court.
