The state of North Carolina is blessed with an overabundance of talent. In the North Carolina 2018 class, 60 plus players signed with D1 schools and another 40 plus signed to play at the D2, D3, NAIA or Juco level. Quite impressive numbers! This year, the 2019 class is on the same course to have 100 plus players continue to play at the collegiate level. In this edition of our Unsigned Senior Series, we’re going to take a look at 6’5 Brandon Murray of Freedom Christian, who has been a major piece of a final four run for the Patriots in the NCISAA 2A Classification.

Brandon Murray is one of the best shooters in the HoopState and has been over the course of his High School career.  He’s been a steadily productive player in High School, Camp, and AAU settings, and has showcased his ability to shoot the ball from a deep range at a high efficiency rate.  He’s a long versatile defender to go with his ability to light it up from deep, and is a really crafty finisher around the rim, displaying patience and savvy when he’s slashing.

Here’s what Jamie Shaw had to say about Murray after a 31 point outburst in our Hoops & Dreams Showcase from Thanksgiving weekend 2018… “Murray has been a noted scorer over the past couple of years, but his game (and overall demeanor) have gone to a new level. He was attacking the rim today, finishing in the paint. He finished with 31 points, and also made 5 3s. This was a good looking Murray, one that with consistent outputs like this should see scholarship level schools beating down his doors.”

Scholarship coaches in need of a wing that can come in and have an immediate positive impact should keep an eye on what Murray does this weekend in Raleigh for the NCISAA 2A Final Four, he’s going to need to be excellent if Freedom wants to accomplish their ultimate goal.  On top of his basketball accomplishments he has a 3.8 GPA and high test scores, only another reason to give this young man a look.
