The state of North Carolina is blessed with an overabundance of talent. In the North Carolina 2018 class, 60 plus players signed with D1 schools and another 40 plus signed to play at the D2, D3, NAIA or Juco level. Quite impressive numbers! This year, the 2019 class is on the same course to have 100 plus players continue to play at the collegiate level. In our unsigned senior spotlight, we want to take a closer look at 6'4 Dayjuwon Cooke of North Rowan High School in Spencer, North Carolina, ' who we strongly feel is a scholarship-worthy player.

6’4 Dayjuwon Cooke is a strong, athletic and explosive wing who excels in the open court. He’s an enthusiastic defender who is most effective in trapping and pressure style of defense. He is currently averaging a double double (18.2 PPG and 12.0 RPG). In addition, he is averaging 2.2 steals per game. This past week in their win over Uwharrie Charter Academy, Dayjuwon scored a career high 38 points while grabbing a team high 10 rebounds. The 38 points were the most points scored by a North Rowan player since Larry Dixon dropped 38 in 1990 and Brian Paige dropped 50 points in 1989.

In speaking with head coach Jason Causby of North Rowan, he stated the following. '”Dayjuwon is a long and rangy wing'who will not be outworked by anyone in the gym -'regardless of'practice or game setting. His emerging wing skill set really takes Dayjuwon through the roof as far as potential to play at the next level.' He is a very unselfish player'and always tries to make the right play while playing high'above the rim.' His incredible leaping ability allows Dayjuwon to hit the glass with a'tenacity to'earn'12 boards per game.' Dayjuwon has a phenomenal first step in transition enabling him to get out in transition on both offense and defense.' He has a great nose for the ball, which makes him invaluable in our press, whether in the trap or in rotation off the trap.'Dayjuwon is a tremendous young man and a'true pleasure to coach.”'
