Whitfield has been a name that has been on the radar for a couple of years. He has been a 2-time participant at the prestigious North Carolina Top 80, and showed very well at both camps. And despite 95% of North Carolina Top 80 graduates signing with D1 schools and finding early success, colleges are still not offering him.

This season, Whitfield is filling up the stat book averaging 22 points, 6 boards, and 4 assists per game. When you dig a bit deeper into these stats you will see that Whitfield scores 33% of his team’s points while still shooting a staggering 50% from the field and 46% from beyond the arc.

So as his team’s primary ball handler, he is also the primary scorer. When you take into account his assists totals you see that Whitfield accounts for 49% of his team’s offensive production. Yet as the player that every team they face is game planning for, Whitfield has still made 75 out of 164 3 point attempts and carries a 2.25 to 1 assists to turnover ratio.

After his performance in the prestigious 2015 North Carolina Top 80 we wrote, “Rob Whitfield combines athleticism and a matched skill set. He is silky smooth in the open court and his game appears effortless at times. Rob has natural gifts especially on the offensive end of the court. He can score from all levels and can literally take over a game. The next step in his development is to push himself on the defensive end of the court. His length and quickness could be a strong attribute in being an outstanding defender. Rob has outstanding lateral quickness and a quick first step. Right now, he doesn’t quite understand how good he could become.”

Rob carries a GPA over 3.0 and has already qualified through the NCAA. He will retake the SAT again in the end of February to see if he can raise his score even more. With schools like Catawba and VMI on him the hardest, more schools should jump in quickly, as he is still open.

Further showing this was Rob’s performance in our 2014 Fall NC Phenom 150 camp, “Rob participated in the inaugural NC Top 80 event and his performance at the NC Phenom 150 camp was like putting an explanation mark on his ability and potential. Coach Pass stated, “Rob is an exceptional scorer. He has a great feel for the basket and has a skill set about his age/grade.” Rob averaged 20.3 PPG but it was his 30-point scoring output that was impressive. He can score from all levels and showcased his perimeter shooting skills by hitting two 3-pointers per game. That being said, Rob is terrific at creating his own shot off the dribble and his midrange jumper is high level. Definitely a stock raising performance for Rob Whitfield!”

Rob is a Division 1 player. He is qualified, he gets buckets with a major target on his back, and he makes his team mates better…
