Standing at a towering 7-foot, 2027 Obinna Ekezie is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing big men in the country. With a blend of size, skill, and evolving versatility, Ekezie turned heads all summer long—and college programs are taking serious notice. As he prepares for a new chapter at a different high school program this upcoming season, the rising big man spoke with Phenom Hoops to discuss his summer development, growing list of offers, and what’s next in his recruitment journey.

Phenom: How did this summer go for you overall' How do you think you developed as a player'

Ekezie: I think the summer went well. I worked hard to improve my strength and skill set. I’m focused now on the upcoming school season and getting prepared for that in the weight room and on the court.

Phenom: What is your excitement about suiting up for your new program this upcoming high school season' What do you think you will be able to bring'

Ekezie: I’m very excited. I feel like it is going to be a great experience for me. I feel like I can bring a leadership aspect to the team.

Phenom: Recruiting continues to stay consistent. What has been the latest offers coming in for you'

Ekezie: The last few offers I’ve received were from Creighton, Louisville, Georgetown, BYU, Miami, Virginia, Cincinnati, and Villanova.

Phenom: What has been the consistent message you have heard from those schools'

Ekezie: They believe in my ability and love the improvement I’ve made. They also see the ability to come in on Day 1 and play.

Phenom: What other schools have been expressing heavy interest'

Ekezie: Auburn, Kentucky, BYU, Louisville, Miami, Virginia, Tennessee, and Maryland (all of which have offered outside of Tennessee)

Phenom: Any schools you are hoping to visit'

Ekezie: I haven’t started thinking about visits, but I’m sure they will be coming soon.
