6’6” John Meeks
Burlington School (Burlington)
The lefty made quite an impression throughout the camp, at multiple levels. Meeks turned heads with his explosive athleticism, finished eight (8) or so follow up, tip back dunks in traffic. Once you started watching the high academic wing, he saw his ability to make shots and attack off the bounce. With no offers yet, expect a big summer with numerous offers coming his way. Meeks averaged 18.3 points per game here.
6’2” Jordan Beale
Voyager Academy (Durham)
Beale is cat quick guard, who lives in the paint and finishes at all three (3) levels. Beale, who has high shoulders and long arms that allows him to player taller, showed deep range and a confident release off both the dribble and catch. He also was fearless attacking the rim, with a quick first step and explosion toward the basket. Coaches should be following Beale this summer.
6’2” Thomas Allen
Garner Magnet (Garner)
Allen started building his reputation last year as the leader of the North Carolina state championship winning team. This year, he just built on that averaging 20 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals per game. Allen is a smooth operator, with range and a nice handle in the half court. He most recently picked up a Murray St offer and has heavy interest from VCU and NC State. Expect things to head up this summer
6’4” Mike Okauru
Ravenscroft School (Raleigh)
Okauru has been on the verge of a break out for a couple of years. This year, he broke out, earning an offer from Clemson with his play in the playoffs. Okauru is a big point guard who has great length and can be a dog with the ball in his hands. This year, Okauru developed his jump shot and his explosion at the rim, having them both even be called consistent. Okauru is a borderline Top 100 player, and one that should get some major action this summer.
6’7” JP Moorman
Greensboro Day (Greensboro)
Each time he steps on the floor, Moorman gets better. This year he has reshaped his body and grown an inch or two. Now standing as an explosive 6’7” wing, Moorman is a mis match on the floor which is led by his handle and vision in the half court. Moorman is in the mold of a Jimmy Butler / Georges Niang. He is just scratching the surface of how good he will end up being. Moorman is a sure fire Top 100 player and a Power 5 recruit. Moorman finished this camp 3rd in scoring with 22 per game.
6’4” Blake Harris
Word of God (Raleigh)
People know Blake Harris, he has multiple Power 5 offers and has been ranked as high as Top 20 in the country. Blake continues to get better as a player, still growing both in production and stature. Now standing as a long and explosive 6’4”, Harris has elite level vision. In transition he is a wizard with the ball, delivering dimes. In the half court, we’d like to see Harris dribble a little lower, but the vision is still there. He is also shooting it more consistently and getting to the rim in the half court. Harris is a Top 75 type guy and a Power 5 point guard.
6’6” Connor Crabtree
Orange High School (Hillsborough)
Crabtree comes out with great size and a high high level skill set. When you first look at him, many will want to pigeon hole him as a shooter, however Crabtree is so much more. He came out during this event with a purpose. Crabtree attacked the rim and showed that he is a good on ball defender. Crabtree has range, he doesn’t force the action, and is very bouncy at the rim. With an offer in hand from Lehigh and schools like Elon, Appalachian St, and William and Mary close to offers, expect that the more he is seen this summer the more schools to jump on board. Think Greg Malinowski.
6’4” Todd Smith
Freedom Christian (Fayetteville)
This year was Smith’s first full year on varsity and it was a very intriguing one. Playing as his team’s primary ball handler, he improved each game throughout the year. In this event, he displayed the full arsenal of scoring abilities. Smith, who has a sturdy frame, attacked the basket and finished above the rim. He also displayed a nice pull up jump shot and touch/range off the catch. Smith was the 3rd leading scorer in camp at 22 per game. He should see some offers flow in this summer.
6’9” Jack Hemphill
Broughton High School (Raleigh)
Hemphill is a brute in the paint. Big and strong, he is a high motor workhorse both on defense and on the boards. However, Hemphill has been in the gym working on his game. He shot the 3 ball well was able to finish well above the rim. With a couple of D1 offers in hand, Hemphill should take a step forward this summer.
6’6” DJ Myers
Neuse Christian (Raleigh)
Myers took a major step forward this season. He found his niche as a player, and started putting up consistent 30 point and 15 board games. Myers has great hands and athleticism 15’ and in. He has a post move and a counter and explosion to finish in traffic. Myers has deep range off the catch and the handle to push the break. His skill set is unique, but is highly productive. With Western Carolina and UNC Greensboro offers in hand, expect that list to grow, considerably this summer.
