Imagine you’re swimming in the ocean. The water is calm, the sun is out, and no imminent danger is near. Suddenly, the sky darkens, and waves begin to thrust aggressively. You’ve now been pulled underwater. What do you do? That is the type of metaphorical question opponents are forced to ask themselves when facing Moravian Prep. Quite clearly the best team in North Carolina, they have the personnel, stylistic approach, and unique physicality to legitimately dominate opposing teams. So, what’s their secret? If it were simply accumulating talent, then we would’ve seen countless other iterations of the same thing. However, Coach Ellis and his staff possess a clear vision towards success…

That being said, the roster is loaded. This concept would not be nearly as effective with inferior talent. Guys like Isaac Ellis (South Carolina) and Jones Lay (Florida) didn’t even suit up during fall league, and this team still beat every opponent by a healthy double-digit margin. Instead, it allowed the rest of their pieces to shine. Caleb Jones is quietly trending as one of North Carolina’s more under-recruited prospects since entering the state. The likes of Kmajay Jenkins and Truman Bullington opted to reclassify to 2028 despite already holding national status. The twins, Dereon and Deyln Truesdale, would be the best players for many high school programs. That sentiment rings true for pieces like Dane Cassada, Mike Jones, and several others who were top players elsewhere before making the move to Moravian Prep. Other players like Matt Allen and Marcus Zelee also made a lasting impression with their play.

Although that is an incredible list of talent, they legitimately have another ten to twenty prospects who will play in college. Considering how far they’ve come as a program, it’s impossible to be anything other than impressed. In addition to being arguably the top program in the state, they should have no problem continuing to make noise on the OTE circuit.
