Holding elite level travel ball events is that you get great talent, known talent that college coaches and scouts are excited to see and write about. The great thing about being in our position is that there are so many teams who play in these events that coaches may not know yet. The hype machine tends to get around some players and stay there.

Part of Phenom Hoops’ platform is exposure for everyone. The kids that all the coaches and scouts know will certainly get some love, but light will be shed upon players that coaches may not have heard of. That is certainly the case here at Summer Havoc Live.

After Day 1 here is a guide of teams and players that coaches may not have heard of yet and NEED to make sure to watch.

Higher Level (Virginia)
6’5” 2018 Kaeleb Carter
Carter is so long and he does so many things that don’t show up in the stat book. He defends multiple positions and shows good vision. Right now he doesn’t have any offers, he does so much that coaches need to see what he’s doing.

6’5” 2018 Julian Washington
Washington has a load of upside. He has great length and is above the rim in transition. In this game he showed that he is a very good shooter, going 4-5 from beyond the arc. He is slender, so he will have to continue to develop in some facets, but Washington’s upside is clear.

6’8” 2018 Grant Yates
Yates has come a long way and is still going. He has good length and is very skilled. Yates canned 2 3s and also made a couple 1 and 2 dribble pull ups. He also showed some toughness, despite his frame, with some tough traffic rebounds and blocked shots. He is not a final product, but he has no offers currently and is one we could see scholarship schools really liking.

6’5” 2018 Jordan Gibson
Gibson has great size and plays with a great pace. He is very good in the mid range, especially off the bounce and displayed good vision, setting up from the point, wing and high post. George Mason and Lafayette were in watching today, expect more D1s to stick their heads in this week, he is under the radar.
