Next weekend officially kicks off the beginning of our July Live Period. Between the two separate sessions, there are a lot of noteworthy teams and players set to attend. These events are always a priority for college coaches, and this might truly be our best one in recent memory. Each day leading up to the competition, we will feature previews on various teams and highlight some of the key players from each roster. Let’s start the series with a closer look at Carolina Riptide…
This roster has a litany of guys who should appeal to college coaches—especially at the guard position. Jack Sullivan regularly dictates the action as the primary floor general. He’s a tough, gritty, team-oriented player who simply knows how to outwork opponents on either side of the ball. Ethan Morgan is a skilled, polished, fairly well-rounded guard who can alter his approach based on team need. His blend of IQ, size, and shooting allow him to be an impactful piece in all types of settings. Joe Bruce has quietly blossomed into a leader and appealing piece for college programs. He’s another knockdown shooter who can create, defend, and reliably dictate the action as a primary ball-handler. Rounding out their guards, Jamie Lawson provides a quick, heady presence. He’s shown the ability to create for others, hit jumpers, and get downhill with ease.
Other perimeter guys, like Austin Moran and Jay Morgan also provide a lot of meaningful production. Moran is a tough, adaptable, well-rounded guard who can consistently do a little bit of everything on the court. He’s comfortable in a variety of different roles, which makes him a problem for opponents. Morgan offers nice length and flashes of versatility as a taller player who can play along the perimeter. Both guys are key pieces for this group.
Rounding out the roster, Landon Vaughan has trended upward as much as any player during the current travel ball season. He’s still physically developing but the upside is clear. Vaughan is a wiry big man with touch, motor, and floor-spacing ability. He’s already quite impactful but has the tools to continue trending upward.
Expect this group to consistently attract coaches throughout the next few weeks, as they certainly have a lot of players worthy of attention.
