This upcoming weekend, Phenom Hoops will travel to the Convention Center in the heart of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, for an event absolutely jam-packed with talent. The Live periods always represent the potential for so many of these young prospects to seize life-altering opportunities. Everyone wants to be seen by college coaches and eventually play at the next level. Well, this is the time for players to perform and separate themselves from their peers. Although we will be in multiple locations (Rock Hill and Raleigh), both sites will host a ton of college coaches with a variety from all levels. We will highlight some of the 17U teams for coaches to monitor, looking at Most Hated NC…

Folks could definitely argue that Josiah Guyton is still among the top, most productive unsigned seniors throughout North Carolina. He’s a long, wiry guard who can reliably create for others or fill it up as a scorer from all levels. Guyton is smart, crafty, and poised with the ball in his hands. He breaks down opponents with ease and displays pace when attacking off the bounce. Guyton mixes it up at a consistent rate from all levels, highlighting the ability to take what the defense gives or assert himself to pick his spots. He’s also comfortable operating without the ball as needed. Guyton defends with toughness and utilizes his length to force turnovers. He certainly has a place at the next level.

However, guys like Nehemiah Thompson, Coolidge Ussery, Lorenzo Roseboro, and Luke Rumfelt will each be vital to the success of this group. Thompson is a tough, well-rounded guard who excels at getting downhill and utilizing his motor to be an impactful defender. Ussery is a quality athlete with the ability to finish above the rim, space the floor from beyond the arc, and consistently make plays defensively. Roseboro is another intriguing unsigned senior who provides a strong, physical approach and thrives at doing the dirty work on both ends of the floor. Lastly, Rumfelt is a scrappy wing with nice size, motor, and the ability to make an impact with or without the ball in his hands. Although somewhat short-handed in terms of bodies, they will certainly have enough pieces to attract college coaches.
