We have watched 6’3 ’17 Ty Shon Alexander for quite some time and he was instrumental in leading Team Charlotte to an impressive 56-46 win over Thon Maker and Canada Elite to capture the prestigious Under Armour 17U Championship. Coming into the Summer Havoc, Alexander sported offers from Charlotte, Clemson and Virginia Tech. The talented combo guard has a high ceiling and demonstrated game after game that he is a high major talent.
On the Under Armour circuit, Alexander shot approximately 41% from the 3-point line and he continued the impressive outside shooting touch from the perimeter at the Summer Havoc.
He once again showcased his overall talent and was named tournament MVP in the ACC 17U division leading Team Charlotte to another championship. That being said, we were more impressed with the maturity and poise demonstrated throughout the event. He is a very humble and soft spoken young man that often leads by his example displayed on the basketball court.
Time after time, when Coach Jeff McInnis needed a big bucket, it was Alexander that was taking and making the shot. He did not shy away from “the moment” and relished the opportunity to propel his team to another championship.
In addition, Alexander is a coaches’ dream. He is coached hard by Jeff McInnis and he accepts constructive criticism in stride. No matter the score, you always see positive body language and a young man that loves to be coached.
