Jude Akubeze was a virtual unknown when he attended the 13th Annual NC Phenom 150 camp back in March. The native Nigerian via Mississippi transferred to Prominance Academy in Durham, North Carolina.

Once he walked into the gym for the NC Phenom 150 camp, Jude immediately passed the “look” test. The physically gifted Jude was advanced athletically and made the courts at the NC Phenom 150 his personal playground.

Jude has tremendous length and strength and already has a college ready frame. To put it simply, he was a man among boys and very few players in his grade can compare physically. After his performance at the NC Phenom 150, it was a no brainer to offer him an invite to the prestigious NC Top 80 camp. At the NC Top 80, Jude demonstrated a blue-collar work ethic and played with an extremely high motor. He will battle you for each rebound and contests every shot. His length and bounce allows him to be a highly effective rim protector.

At the Hoop Group Southern Jam, Jude played on the 15U championship team. He is an important member of this talented group and provides a strong presence in the post area. Currently, his defense is more advanced than his offensive skillset, which is typical of players, his age/grade. While the CP3 is more perimeter oriented, Jude provides a steady force on the interior. Jude’s offensive game is limited to within ten feet of the rim, he can be physically imposing. He can dominate and use his physical attributes to throw dunk vicious dunks on the opposition.

Jude has tremendous potential and upside and is only beginning to scratch the surface. Once his skillset catches up with his athleticism, the sky’s the limit and what you see is not the finished product. To use an old popular saying, “his best days are in front of him.”
