There is nothing like keeping talent at home and it was a big weekend for Charleston, as they landed one of the more talented and underrated guards within the region. 2027 PG Colt Fowler made waves down in South Carolina by announcing his commitment to stay at home and head to Charleston.

When you talk about Fowler, he may be one of the most exciting point guards in the region to watch, as he is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands. He is a highly skilled and talented guard who makes everyone better and just plays with a different kind of swagger to his game. Fowler can be electric with his ability to find and set up his teammates, racking up assists and being a true floor general. But he is just as talented as a scorer, shining with his quickness off the bounce, ability to finish over defenders and create for himself, and knock down shots with confidence. He is at his best when reading and dissecting what is going on the floor, making incredible plays with his vision and passing, applying pressure as a scorer, and playing with an overall toughness/ scrappiness that is hard not to love.

In the end, Charleston is keeping one of South Carolina’s premier playmakers close to home and adding a guard who should fit its program exceptionally well. Fowler’s vision, creativity, scoring ability, toughness, and natural feel for the game give him the tools to become a highly effective floor general at the next level. His ability to create offense for himself while consistently elevating those around him makes this a significant recruiting victory for the Cougars. As he continues to develop, Fowler should be a player Charleston fans quickly come to appreciate.

What Has Been Said:

“Fowler is such an interesting and intriguing point guard who has a blend of skill and feel. When watching him operate, the 5’10 point guard displays an uncanny feel for the game that simply excites you. He has an exceptional feel with the ball in his hands, being a true leader on the floor, and understanding how to be a legit playmaker for himself and others. Fowler excels in transition and has a tremendous blend of quickness, handles, and court awareness, knowing where teammates will be, having a terrific touch in setting up teammates, and also being an effective scorer on the court. He makes the right plays at the right times, whether it is driving and kicking, finding his bigs down low, or simply creating scoring opportunities for himself. It is hard not to be a fan of his game, especially with the excitement he brings in running the show. There is no doubt about it; Fowler has opened many eyes to his game this summer, and more college programs should take notice.” – Patrick O’Brien

“In terms of sheer excitement and entertainment, there wasn’t a single player on display who turned heads more than Colt Fowler. The clear leader of this Superfriendz squad, it’s truly amazing to watch how masterfully he runs a team. Fowler is such a uniquely electric player whose incredible feel, sharp quickness, and ability to see the game ahead of others makes him one of the most impressive playmakers you’ll ever find. He’s a true, highly skilled point guard who visibly elevates his surrounding teammates when on the court. Fowler possesses a lightning-quick first step with a tight, crafty handle and the change of direction to effortlessly break down opponents and touch the paint whenever he desires. The main thing that separates him from other floor generals is his unwavering consistency to make the right play. Fowler’s processing speed is as high as anyone in high school basketball. He sees the entire floor at all times and has a rare ability to identify openings before they even appear. Whether making the basic or advanced reads, Fowler delivers passes on time and on target to teammates in their preferred scoring positions. Beyond his brilliant playmaking instincts, Fowler is a smooth scoring option who reliably picks his spots within the framework of the offense. He applies pressure as a penetrator, where he’s able to finish very well for his size, and shoots the ball at a high percentage from the perimeter. Despite his size, Fowler is also a pesky on-ball defender with the quickness and anticipation to force turnovers at a nice rate. Although he already holds a variety of Division I offers, folks should expect his stock to continue rising over the coming months.”
