Team 11
Coach: Jamal Mitchell
#43: 5’8 ’28 Vaughn Michael Taylor (Lancaster)

Starting off, Vaughan Michael Taylor is a 5-foot-8 prospect in the Class of 2028. He consistently found ways to impact the game on both ends of the floor despite being the smallest camper on this team. Taylor is a smart, quick, high-motor guard with a very unselfish approach to the game. He’s a quality perimeter shooter who can break down opponents and touch the paint at a high volume, where he’s able to reliably finish or set up others. Taylor is a tough, pesky on-ball defender. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would allow him to find more opportunities alongside another lead creator. Coach Mitchell on Taylor: “Vaughn was a pest defensively all day. He caused multiple turnovers and gained extra possessions for our team. His quickness in transition allowed him to score at will. He also made great passes in the pick-and-roll.” Taylor did a lot of things well during camp and should be a key piece at Lancaster over the foreseeable future.
#66: 5’11 ’28 Cornell Jones (Legion Collegiate)

Next, Cornell Jones is a 5-foot-11 prospect in the Class of 2028. Given his nonstop motor and array of intangibles, he did a terrific job of filling in the gaps for this group. Jones is a steady, unselfish guard with great feel and energy on both ends of the floor. He moves well without the ball to find open seams within the defense, but doesn’t require touches to make an impact. Jones is a scrappy defender and willing rebounder who doesn’t shy away from physical play. Next in his development process is working on the use of his off-hand, as it would make him a better finisher around the basket. Coach Mitchell on Jones: “Cornell is a good teammate. Capable of making hustle plays and doing little things to help the team. Outworks opponents for loose balls. Runs the floor well in transition.” Jones enjoyed a nice showing at camp and should be a useful piece for Legion Collegiate over the coming years.
#73: 6’0 ’28 Jeramie Jones (Byrnes)

Next, Jeramie Jones is a 6-foot-0 prospect in the Class of 2028. He highlighted a well-rounded identity and the ability to produce from either guard spot. Jones is a smart, unselfish guard with a polished skillset and reliable defensive presence. He’s a solid penetrating threat who can finish or set up others, but is arguably at his best when asserting himself from midrange or beyond the arc. Jones is comfortable initiating the offense, creating his own shot, or finding opportunities as a spot-up threat. He defends with constant energy and is capable of forcing turnovers at the point of attack. Next in his development process is working on the use of his off-hand, as it would make him a more complete player. Coach Mitchell on Jones: “Jeramie is a solid on-ball defender who knows how to compete on both ends. Shot the ball well in transition and made a couple of nice finishes on fast-breaks.” Jones did a lot of things well during camp and should be a key piece at Byrnes going forward.
#82: 6’1 ’28 Nick Lindsay (Calhoun)

Next, Nick Lindsay is a 6-foot-1 prospect in the Class of 2028. Arguably the top spot-up threat on this team, he found success without needing a ton of touches. Lindsay possesses a strong blend of IQ, motor, and skill. He moves very well without the ball to find open seams within the defense and knock down jumpers along the perimeter. Lindsay is capable of attacking closeouts and making the extra pass when available. He’s a quality defender, both on and off the ball, who utilizes his energy and positioning well to contain opponents. Next in his development process is working on the use of his off-hand, as it would make him a better finisher. Coach Mitchell on Lindsay: “Nick excels in catch-and-shoot situations. Displays great IQ on both ends of the floor. Moves really well without the ball and secures rebounds at a nice rate for his size.” Lindsay made his presence felt throughout camp and should be a difference-maker at Calhoun going forward.
#85: 6’1 ’28 Lachlan Bell (Daniel)

Next, Lachlan Bell is a 6-foot-1 prospect in the Class of 2028. Between his creation skills, scoring polish, and active defensive presence, he stood out as a reliable piece on both ends of the floor. Bell is a scrappy, unselfish guard with great feel and a high motor. He handles the ball with poise and displays nice vision when creating for others. Bell is a strong perimeter shooter who consistently knocks down jumpers from midrange and beyond the arc. He finishes well for his size. Bell makes hustle plays and battles hard to outwork opponents defensively. Next in his development process is working on getting quicker, as it would make him a more dynamic penetrating threat. Coach Mitchell on Bell: “Lachlan played well in camp. Hit some open shots in transition and made great plays in the half court—both for himself and others. Made hustle plays.” Bell did a lot of things well during camp and should be a productive piece for Daniel over the coming years.
#152: 6’2 ’28 Carmello Whitaker (Wilson)

Next, Carmello Whitaker is a 6-foot-2 prospect in the Class of 2028. He stood out through his incredibly unselfish, malleable identity. Whitaker displays a strong combination of IQ, motor, and the ability to play bigger than his size on both ends of the floor. He’s able to create for himself and others, but also finds opportunities as a cutter and screening option. Whitaker’s nonstop energy and nose for the ball allowed him to secure rebounds and toggle across multiple positions defensively. Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make him more difficult for opponents to contain. Coach Mitchell on Whitaker: “Carmello was a beast in the pick-and-roll. Set great screens, which made him open when rolling to the basket. Sprints hard in transition and rebounds the ball very well for his size.” Whitaker found success throughout camp and has the tools to be a useful piece at Wilson going forward.
#158: 6’3 ’28 Preston Heffner (Catawba Ridge)

Next, Preston Heffner is a 6-foot-3 prospect in the Class of 2028. It didn’t take long to recognize everything he did to assert himself as a leader. Heffner is a very skilled, well-rounded guard with excellent size, feel, and toughness. He showed the ability to consistently apply efficient scoring pressure from all levels. Heffner created for himself and others, mixed it up from all levels, and kept defenses guessing. He’s a quality defender and rebounder who knows how to reliably push the break in transition. Next in his development process is working on tightening up his handle, as it would make him even more difficult for opponents to contain. Coach Mitchell on Heffner: “Preston was one of the best scorers in the sophomore division. His ability to get downhill off the pick-and-roll was great. He displayed terrific feel when getting into the paint in transition, showing the ability to score or find the open teammate.” Heffner proved to be an asset during camp and should be a focal point for Catawba Ridge over the coming years.
#166: 6’4 ’28 Hank Davidson (Gaffney)

Finishing up, Hank Davidson is a 6-foot-4 prospect in the Class of 2028. Though slightly undersized for his position, it’s impossible to deny the value he brought to this team. Davidson is a strong, skilled post player with excellent touch, footwork, and interior polish. He’s a terrific finisher and passer who can operate on the block or apply pressure in the midrange. Davidson possesses the strength and feel to consistently shut down opponents defensively. He also utilizes his motor and positioning to outwork others on the glass. Next in his development process is working on getting quicker, as it would make him a better defender when switching onto smaller guards. Coach Mitchell on Davidson: “Hank was a force in the paint all camp. Scored at will on the blocked and showed off incredible footwork at times. He has great touch on his 15-footer and plays hard on both ends of the floor.” Davidson made a lasting impression at camp and should be a key piece for Gaffney this season.
