6’ PG Trae Hannibal (Carolina Wolves/Hartsville HS)
Hannibal is the first fresh face to look for this upcoming High School season. He has a strong build, which is the first thing one notice until the ball is tipped off. When he gets the ball in his hands one quickly sees the skills he’s equipped with. Trae is a strong lead guard who has handles, and is learning the game at a steady rate. He’s always on his toes on the defensive end, ready to pounce on a weak pass so he can get that fast break dunk! For a smaller PG Trae is a high flyer. His strong body allows him to defend older guys with ease. He spent most of the summer plagued with injuries, but look for him to show up at SC Top 80 ready to perform.
6’6 Wing Calvin “CJ” Felder (SC Hornets/Sumter HS)
The second fresh face is Felder. Felder is ahead of his time in the classroom and on the court. He’s supposed to be class of 2020, but was gifted enough to move along quickly. Calvin has progressed along nicely the past 2 years. Felder spent the summer running with GA Stars & SC Hornets. He has elite handles, which allows him to get to the spots he wants. He has a much improved midrange and beyond the arc game. His strongest attribute is his post footwork, which is flawless for his age. Along with those skills, he’s also a high flyer. Look for Felder to make a name for himself at SC Top 80 this year.
6’7 CG Juwan Purdue (SC Ballers/Lakewood HS)
The third fresh face is Purdue. Juwan is another rising prospect from the Sumter area. He and Felder have been teammates for years. Both spent there first two AAU season with Greater Level Athletics. When one looks at Purdue on paper they might expect a guy who plays in the post, but that is not the case. Juwan is very athletic, bouncy, and handles the ball better than most PG’s. Juwan can flat out shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor. He’s a very strong rebounder and always plays above the rim. His length always him to be able to guard 1-5 on the floor. His game puts one in the mind of newly drafted Kris Dunn. Look for Purdue to have a strong showing at SC Top 80.
