This past weekend, Phenom Hoops traveled up to Virginia Beach for a collaboration event with Made Hoops. The Virginia Beach Clash was a huge success, featuring a ton of noteworthy teams and prospects from an abundance of areas. Among those standout programs was Smith Elite 14U. They’ve attended several tournaments this travel ball season and have been nothing short of dominant. Last weekend was no different. They went 4-0 while beating opponents by an average scoring margin of 31 PPG and only had one win by less than 35 points. After proving themselves as one of the top teams in the Carolinas, more folks should get informed about their roster. Let’s take a closer look at some of their pieces…

In looking at their makeup, Smith Elite has a nice balance of guards, wings, and interior size. Guys like Camden Black and Brooks Angle occupy the paint. Black is an intriguing big man with a developing skillset and useful presence as a rebounder and interior defender. Meanwhile, Angle finds success through his motor, positioning, and ability to fill in the gaps. They have a slew of notable perimeter players in Landry Smith, Mason Williams, Landen Bryant, Brandyn Horton, Braylon Baker, London Valcin, and Noah McLedon. Guys like Smith, Williams, and Bryant stood out for their steady production throughout the weekend. However, Horton, Baker, and McLedon all made plays within their respective roles. Rounding out this group, Valcin might be their most intriguing long-term perimeter prospect.

Ultimately, this is just the beginning for this group. They are a highly talented team with the right blend of IQ, discipline, and toughness to dominate opponents. Trending as one of the top squads in the Carolinas, folks should start watching these prospects now before they inevitably blow up over these next few years.
