The month of June is always a fun one for Phenom Hoops and our scouts, as we get an early viewing of what teams will be looking like this upcoming high school season and earn a few early storylines as well. The Phenom Team Camp covered many topics, and we look to recap a few of them based on what we saw on the court.
A team that you simply couldn’t miss was Phoenix Montessori, as this team came in with several familiar faces, as well as size. When you look up and down this roster, this team looks deep and has excellent balance inside out, as they look to be one of the stronger teams in North Carolina.

When you look at the guard play, Phoenix Montessori has plenty of weapons at their disposal. Whether it is guard or wing play, this team brings speed, athleticism, and excellent scoring impact on the court. 2027 Malik McCotter is back again to showcase his shot-making, quickness, and ability to create off the bounce, while players like Tim Burris and Ayden Fisher will be huge pieces as well with size and scoring impact. 2028 Kam Lucas could be in for a breakout season with his size, athleticism, and impact on both sides of the court, while D’Rock Nchinda brings positional size and shot-making ability to the court.
Then you start looking down low, as 2027 6’10 Jakari Jordan certainly can be an impact player with his touch at the rim, attacking the glass, and ability to alter shots. However, they will also have 2028 Jayven Bakari and 2029 Gavin Glover, both of which stand at 6’9 and help bring depth at that position.
Overall, Phoenix Montessori has the balance, depth, and experience to make a lot of noise this upcoming season, as they went undefeated at the Phenom Team Camp. Could this just be the start of something special? We shall see but they clearly put themselves on the radar for this season here in North Carolina.
