The Phenom Lakesgiving gave us a tremendous opportunity to watch one of the top-scoring guards in the country in 2027 6’4 LJ Smith, who is back on the court once again for Lincolnton High School.
If you haven’t heard of his name, you should start learning it today. But many have already heard about just how special Smith is on the court, proving to be one of the most gifted offensive weapons here in the region, and certainly showing to be a national name. The 6’4 guard can absolutely fill it up, averaging over 30 points per game last year and already is posting averages of 40ppg this season.
When you talk about his game, he is such a unique guard in how he understands how to create for himself. He consistently can get it done from all three levels, takes advantage of his size when penetrating and weaving through traffic, scores at the rim with bounce in his game, has shown to be one of the best creators with his handles and is a big threat from the perimeter as well. Smith uses the entire court to put on a show offensively, as there isn’t a shot he doesn’t like and can’t hit. Simply put, he is one of the best offensive weapons on the high school landscape. And he showed that on several occasion at the event, and will only continue to do so this season.
With his talent, many schools are already coming his way as Smith has received offers from Kansas, McNeese State, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Stetson, West Virginia, Charlotte, and others. In speaking with him recently, Smith has also been hearing interest from Duke, Clemson, South Carolina, NC State, and Arkansas as well. In fact, he will be on a visit to Duke when they take on Auburn on December 4th.
