Sewer South is an organization that continues to make noise and bring intriguing talent to the court with Phenom Hoops, and we were excited to see them back in action on our platform. We had a great chance to watch a lot of the 17u, but this is an organization that has talent all throughout. Let’s talk a little about what we saw with the 17u group, while adding a few other noteworthy notes from the 16u group.
The 17u group has plenty of talent that may go a bit under the radar but were able to thrive on the big stage this past weekend, giving us a few new names to watch out for. 2027 6’10 Tim Johnson was one who immediately stood out with his length, mobility, and overall fluidity on either end of the court. He displayed touch and feel, got to his spots, and was a good finisher as well as being active throughout in the paint. And, not to forget, his impact as a rim protector, blocking multiple shots throughout. 2027 Roman Avery was a strong piece in his ability to be a catch-and-shoot type guard at 6’5, getting to his spots from the perimeter and knocking down jumpers with range and consistency. 2027 Jordan Wiseman was a physical guard who was able to attack downhill and be a presence at the rim, constantly putting pressure on his opponents and looking to create for himself and others. However, he was also able to get to his spots and be a perimeter threat as well.
2027 Preston Liston mixed it up well as a glue-type guy, getting to his spots and showing confidence in his ability to knock down shots but also make plays off the bounce. The same could be said for 2027 6’3 Eric Coleman, as he was strong as well in picking his spots to attack, but also playing within the offense. 2027 Christian Dickson was another guard who showed flashes of his ability to create and finish. 2027 6’4 Landon Grundy was a presence throughout on both sides of the ball, presenting as a scoring factor but also showing versatility on either end of the court.
Overall though, this was a group that played well together and brought a team mentality to the court. Sewer South continues to present underrated talent to college coaches, and they should be a hot target for many programs this summer and down the road.
