Wheeler is another fierce and scrappy little warrior. This gem has the heart of 7ft giant. Fearless getting to the rim and finishing strong over bigger players with ease. Wheeler is extremely fast and causes mismatches even for a guard. He can knock down the three but his strength is getting to and finishing at the rim.
DJ loves to pass the rock as well. Teammates have to stay alert when he is running the show because of a high offensive IQ he threads the needle in a flash. DJ is an inside-out playmaker. He averaged 22.7pts and 5asts. What wasn’t noted was his defensive energy and grit. With his speed and quick hands, he got a lot of steals and deflections. His play earned the #27 ranking for a point guard in NC.
Last season Wheeler averaged 15 points and 6 assists. He has his goal to win the MaxPreps 2023 Player of Year, while raising his assist average to 8 per game while being a huge part of winning the conference championship and contender for a state championship run.
Wheeler can truly facilitate an offense with the best out there delivering whatever his team needs to do together that done. He brings energy, toughness, and fire every time out. DJ has an intense work ethic and determination to continue to get better with every single minute of every game. Can’t teach that, it’s just in him.
