It is that time of year and coaches are scrambling to fill their roster spots, looking for players to come in and contribute. With the travel bans and social distancing going on, that makes this time of year even tougher …

Here are some unsigned seniors who are off the beaten path, in South Carolina that scholarship schools (D1s and D2s) should be looking at.

6’1” Devante Johnson
Lugoff-Elgin HS
2019-20 Stats: 20 Points. 70 3s. 5 Rebounds. 2.2 Assists. 1.8 Steals.
Claimed Offers: Coker

Johnson is a bucket getter, in the purest and plainest sense of the word. Johnson has a quick handle, getting into the paint, he can shoot the ball and he plays with a football like mentality, on both ends of the floor. A week or so ago he picked up his first, and only, offer when Coker came forward. That offer felt right as other programs, around the region, should be getting their scholarship monies together for him.

6’1” Draylon Burton
Powdersville HS
2019-20 Stats: 31.2 Points. 54% FG. 2.2 Rebounds. 2.0 Assists. 1.8 Steals.
Claimed Offers: N/A

Burton is a tough, quick-footed, downhill guard. He sees the floor well but was tasked to score for this team, and he ended up leading the state in scoring (3 points ahead of #2). Burton is in attack mode the second he steps on the floor, with over 205 FT attempts (77%) this season. For his career, he averaged 20.4 points (1,840 total) in his 90 varsity games. Burton can flat out boogie.

6’1 Jordan Jones
Trinity Byrnes HS
2019-20 Stats: 17 Points. 59% FG. 4.4 Assists. 3.1 Rebounds.
Claimed Offers: Coker and Missouri Baptist

Jones, a lefty, looks the part stepping on the floor. Long arms, broad shoulders and he just moves like a player. This season he led his Trinity Byrnes team to a 23-7 record and a #1 seed in the playoffs. Jones is a paint touch guard who is very crafty in the paint. He sees the floor well, especially in transition, and can act as a ball hawk on the defensive end. There are a lot of tools to like for the Darlington, SC native, especially when you’re talking about leading a team.

6’6” Keyan Mims
York County HS
2019-20 Stats: 15 Points. 52% FG. 41% 3P (28-68). 7.9 Rebounds. 3.6 Assists. 1.4 Steals.
Claimed Offers: N/A

Mims is a do-everything type of wing, with his ability to initiate, create and defend. He is a good rebounder and a very instinctive defender. He also is tough, as he is a football player also. He shot the ball very well this season,  as well as padded the stats all over the floor. He is a full scholarship type player and one who will be tough to take off the floor at the next level with his ability to do so much.

6’5” Jahnarious Snell
Clarendon Hall
2019-20 Stats:  14 Games. 23 Points. 55% FG. 46% 3P (56-122). 4.9 Rebounds. 1.6 Assists. 1.6 Steals.
Claimed Offers: Mars Hill, Coker

Snell is a length wing who checks a lot of the boxes with his ability to shoot, score and get into the passing lanes. He shot 47% from beyond the arc this season, showcasing his ability to catch and shoot, and he is able to finish well above the rim in transition. There is a lot to like here, as he has already picked up both of these offers in March. More full scholarship schools should be looking, even with D1s peeking in to see what they think.
