Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the state playoff-bound Piedmont!  The Sadster is here to release his latest Furious 5.  States begin this week and some teams are riding high while others have leveled off.  Myers Park barely escaped Ardrey Kell in the SoMeck finals at The Kastle. North Meck rolled past Chambers for the QC title.  Weddington nipped Marvin Ridge for the Southern Carolina banner.  The third time did end up being the charm as Butler dropped Independence down in the rankings in capturing the SW 4A championship and Lake Norman spanked Hickory Ridge for the Greater Metro trophy.  There were a couple of changes so let’s get…..TO THE 5!

1. MYERS PARK – THE STANGS SURVIVED AN ARDREY KELL ASSAULT 52-50, CAPTURE TOP SEED IN THE WEST.

2. NORTH MECK – TRIPLE CROWNED CHAMBERS FOR ANOTHER QC TITLE, GOT JOBBED BY THE SEEDING PROCESS GETTING THE 5 SEED IN THE WEST.

3. WEDDINGTON – THE TRIBE SQUEAKED INTO A TOURNEY TITLE, TAKES THE 3 SEED IN THE WEST

4. LAKE NORMAN – THE LAKERS CRUISED TO A TOURNAMENT TROPHY, NAMED 2 SEED IN THE WEST.

5. INDEPENDENCE – THE PATRIOTS WERE FINALLY FELLED BY RIVAL BUTLER FOR THE SW 4A TITLE, TAKING THE 9 SEED IN THE WEST.

Don’t Sleep On: South Meck, Butler, Hickory Ridge, Chambers, Ardrey Kell

There you have it folks!  Make sure to get out to States and don’t forget to check out The Great One’s first-round playoff picks on Tuesday.
