Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the conference tournament awaiting Piedmont! The Great One is here to once again release his latest rankings. Last week saw a lot of action with so many games being played. Then #2-ranked North Meck was stunned by a buzzer-beater. Who did it? The Butler did it! The Bulldogs went into both West Charlotte and North Meck and upset the top two teams of the Power Six within 3 days. Was it enough to move up into the standings? The Vikings also rebounded to post a sweep of West Charlotte in securing another outright conference title. We also have a team that hasn’t been in the 5 for many years that went winless last year and this year hangs a regular season conference title banner for the first time in 18 years! Also, a fellow westside Charlotte team enters the rankings. We will find out who moved where in this final regular season Furious 5 as we go……TO THE 5!!!
1. MOORESVILLE 19-2 – THE BLUE DEVILS HAD A 3-0 WEEK SURVIVING A 54-53 WIN AT SOUTH IREDELL, HAS 2 MORE REGULAR SEASON GAMES THIS WEEK PLUS THE FINAL 2 ROUNDS OF THE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT.
2. MARVIN RIDGE 19-4 – THE MAVERICKS WENT 2-0 LAST WEEK INCLUDING A 2 OT 1 POINT WIN OVER SUN VALLEY, HAS THE 2 SEED FOR THE SOUTHERN CAROLINA CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT THIS WEEK.
3. CATHOLIC – THE POPE’S FAVORITE TEAM WENT 2-0 IN LAST WEEK’S HOMESTAND, HOLDS TOP SEED IN SOUTHERN CAROLINA CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT.
4. NORTH MECK 20-4 – THE VIKINGS WENT 2-1 STUMBLING TO BUTLER BUT SWEPT WEST CHARLOTTE FOR THE POWER SIX REGULAR SEASON CROWN, TOURNAMENT IS NEXT.
5. WEST MECK 16-8 – THE HAWKS RETURN TO THE 5 ON THE “HOT SEAT” AFTER A LONG HIATUS COURTESY OF A 9 GAME WINNING STREAK, IS TOP SEED IN THEIR CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT THIS WEEK.
