Greetings HS hoops junkies from across the playoff anticipating Piedmont! The Amazing One is here to release his final pre-State Furious 5! For this edition through the remainder of the season, he will add a new group of teams called “On the Radar” underneath the DSO list until the teams fall out of the playoffs. Last week brought a couple of changes due to upsets in conference tournaments. Congratulations go out to all area conference tournament winners. The 3rd time was the charm as Chambers, playing at home, stopped North Meck’s conference tournament title run. Joining the Cougars in the Charlotte area tournament title column were Lake Norman, Weddington, Independence and South Meck, who won their 1st tourney title since the Horowitz and company days of the 02-03 campaign. The Great One will preview the 4A West state playoffs in his 1st round prediction article on Tuesday but for now, let’s get…..TO THE 5!!!
- LAKE NORMAN – THE LAKERS RETURN TO THEIR INITIAL PERCH ATOP THE 5 WITH A CLEAN SWEEP OF THE GM 4A REGULAR SEASON AND TOURNAMENT. TOP SEED IN WEST 4A.
- WEDDINGTON – THE TRIBE POSTS A SWEEP OF THEIR OWN IN THE SOUTHERN CAROLINA 4A. 6 SEED IN WEST 4A.
- INDEPENDENCE – THE PATRIOTS BLEW OUT NEMESIS BUTLER IN THE RUBBER GAME OF THEIR SEASON SERIES FOR THE SW 4A TOURNAMENT TITLE TO GO WITH A SHARED REGULAR SEASON TITLE WITH CATHOLIC. 5 SEED IN WEST 4A.
- NORTH MECK – THE VIKINGS FALL FROM THE TOP SPOT, LOSING THE QC 4A TITLE GAME AT CHAMBERS, WHICH PREVENTED THEIR OWN SWEEP. 3 SEED IN WEST 4A .
- CHAMBERS – THE COUGARS VAULT BACK INTO THE “HOT SEAT” SPOT IN THE 5 WITH TOURNEY TITLE WIN OVER NORTH MECK BEHIND MONSTER GAME FROM MARKUS KERR. 13 SEED IN WEST.
